Meet the Dance Authority Staff

Darcy Huffines-Owner/Director/Choreographer/ Instructor

 

Darcy grew up loving dance from a early age and trained in jazz, lyrical and hip hop throughout her childhood.  Loving every opportunity to learn dance she traveled the U.S. to learn from the dance industries best. She was a member of the Westmoore Pom Squad and also did All-Star dance. Immediately from high school she made the UCO pom squad and was also a member of the 89er Diamond Girls.  She then went on to be World Champions in Acapulco, Mexico.  Darcy is not only an accomplished dancer and performer holding more than eight national team and individual titles, but a successful coach and choreographer producing more than 50 national titles. For more than 20 years, she has instructed her own competitive dance teams as well as Pom Squads from Putnam City Wes t, Mustang, and Carl Albert to earn over 20 state championship titles. She coached Mustang Pom for combined total of over 12 years and loves working within the community schools. She is currently in her 2nd year as the coach and choreographer for Piedmont Vars ity Pom. A member of Oklahoma State Teacher’s Dance Team Association since the organization’s establishment, Darcy has been voted Coach of the Year by its members. Her extensive dance experience is called upon multiple times a year to judge regional and national level competitions across the country. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and critiques with the top competitive studios from across the nation.  Dance Spirit Magazine has recognized Darcy three times as one of the "Top Dance Team Directors and Choreographers" in the U.S. In addition to her sustained success in competitive dance, Darcy has also performed and choreographed musicals for Mustang's Drama Productions of "Bye-Bye Birdie," "Oliver Twist," "Grease," "Princess and the Pea" and "Oklahoma.”To all the dance families that I have had the privilege to work with over the years, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your sweet kiddos with us. We have made some beautiful memories together and I couldn’t be prouder of our students. Students: You have been part of a great tradition in dance performance for over 17 years! Your talent and personalities shine wherever you go!  Your confidence & poise will take you far and we will love and support you forever.  Thanks for brightening our lives and our dance floor.  You are ADORED.

 

Kacy Oltmann-Assistant Director/Choreographer/ Instructor

 

Kacy is from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, where she commenced  her training in dance and musical theatre. Kacy has studied Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Tap, and Hip Hop, and has competitively danced as a soloist and group member.   In her 25 plus years of dance, she attended classes at the University of Central Oklahoma as well as multiple dance conventions and competitions such as L.A. Dance Force,  Dance Masters of America, Dupree, I Love Dance, National Dance Alliance, Oklahoma State Dance Team Directors' Association, Tremaine, Pulse, NUVO, and SYTYCD Experience. Kacy was the captain of her high school dance team, a second year officer, and three year member.  Her performance experience includes Miss Oklahoma Pageants, NFL halftime performances with famous musicians, Tulsa Philharmonic, Tulsa Theatre Productions,  television, many Tulsa area festivals and events, and traveling for invitational performances in Texas, Missouri, California, and Hawaii.  She aided in the establishment and  development of Broken Arrow’s Junior Varsity dance team, and choreographed award-winning dances for the new team. Her solo and group choreography continues to produce title winners each year. She has received National  level awards for choreography as well as special recognition for creativity and choreography at regional competitions. Driven by her love for dance, Kacy gained teaching experience from multiple establishments throughout the state, while she earned her B.S. in Human Environmental Sciences from Oklahoma State University and an M.A. in Youth Development from Michigan State University.  Her education contributes immensely to her variety of teaching methods designed to best meet the various learning needs of the children she has the privilege to mentor.  Kacy feels fortunate to be able to utilize both her passion for dance and youth development expertise to inspire and educate her students.

 

Lauren Bumgarner/Choreographer/Instructor

 

Lauren has been dancing for 18 years and has training in jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop. She danced competitively for 9 years, 5 of which were spent at Dance Authority.  Throughout her years of competitive dance, Lauren won numerous awards for solo and group performances at the state and national level. She attended Tremaine and The Pulse Dance Conventions, where she was awarded leadership and senior level scholarships. Additionally, she has been assisting and teaching classes of various age groups, levels, and styles for nine years. Lauren is a recent graduate of the University of Oklahoma, where she studied Film, Media, and Fine Arts. Her voice as a filmmaker often comes from her integration of film with contemporary dance to communicate personal narratives. Many of her films have been screened and awarded regionally, and seven of her films have been screened internationally. Lauren is the most recent recipient of the University of Oklahoma’s Ned Hockman Filmmaking Award, an annual award given to a student for excellence in filmmaking. Working as a company choreographer for Dance Authority from 2014 to present, Lauren has received six regional choreography awards and one national choreography award. She believes that her love of dance has hugely impacted who she is as a filmmaker, and, more recently, Lauren has noticed that her love of storytelling via moving image has started to impact who she is as a teacher and choreographer as well. She is absolutely honored to work alongside the talented dancers at Dance Authority, and considers it a monumental privilege to see students grow and express themselves through movement.

 

Belle Capps-Assistant Instructor

 

A High School Cheer squad member, Belle has been  training in dance and acro for 9 years and  competitively for 6 years.  Belle enjoys working with children and loves every opportunity she has to share her passion for dance with them. She finds the most rewarding part to s ee their smiles as they perform and accomplish goals.

 

Jaidyn Walker-Assistant Instructor

 

Jaidyn is a Senior at Tuttle High School and has been dancing for 14 years, and 10 competitively as a soloist and with a team. S he has also competed in numerous pageants, and was recently named World’s Perfect Dancer and  Perfect Leaper.  She loves teaching our little dancers as they are full of enthusiasm and always keeping her on her toes. She is thrilled to have an impact on our littlest ones as they grow as dancers .

 

Kamryn Karn-Assistant Instructor

 

Kamryn has dance for 14 years and 7 of those competitively.  She is also a member of the Yukon Pom squad. Kamryn has been assisting and teaching at Dance Authority for 5 years, and enjoys every moment she gets the opportunity to share her love of dance with children.

 

Paige London-Assistant Instructor

 

Paige has been in the studio for 14 years and competed for 7 of those years. She  has also studied singing and musical theatre.  This year marks Paige’s 4th year assisting  & teaching in classes,  She loves that she gets the chance to know her students and watch the m grow from year.

 

Kylie Smith-Assistant Instructor

 

Kylie has been dancing for 13 years, and is thrilled with the opportunity to assist classes.  She feels such pride to teach children new things and watch as they accomplish their goals. She is so proud to be a part of the Dance Authority family.
